Sell more, and sell faster, with new Swiftlier product features

Two major updates to Swiftlier have made it even easier for education businesses to create engaging, reliable online purchasing experiences for their customers across courses, services, merchandise and more.

Update 1: Customisable Product Pages

We are pleased to announce a major update to Swiftlier — the launch of Customisable Product Pages, designed to make it a breeze to create and maintain high-converting, great-looking sales webpages.

The team behind Swiftlier have been working with education businesses for a long time. One of the challenges we’ve come across consistently in the ed-ecommerce space is how best to create product pages (aka course or service pages) that not only look great, but also show the data points that are crucial to the customer’s buying decision.

We find this to be a uniquely complex challenge in the commercial education and activity space. This is because many of the informational selling points — who is teaching a course, where it’s taking place, when it’s happening, the size of the class, availability and more — are:

  • already recorded in an operational delivery or timetabling system
  • subject to change in a way physical inventory is not

Customers make decisions based on that operational information, so any changes to it need to be reflected on the product pages in real time.

In many education businesses, though, the operational system, the website CMS and the online bookings platform are all frequently disconnected — meaning a basic update to operational information needs making again manually on both the website sales page and the online shop/registration platform.

This requires duplicated effort, in businesses where spare time is non-existent.

This theme of lost time is felt particularly acutely in education businesses with frequently changing course and product catalogues. Copying date and location information from an operations system to the corresponding sales webpage is a demoralising task to do once — if you’re launching 20 new courses every half term, it quickly becomes a serious time sink.

At Swiftlier, we have always believed that a single system, all feeding off the same database, has huge advantages for fast-moving, innovative education businesses. Our launch of Customisable Product Pages provides Swiftlier customers with:

  • a ready-made template for Product Pages
  • a single place (Swiftlier HQ) to add and maintain product branding information including product names, descriptions, age ranges, dates and more
  • support for all the elements you need for an informative, user-friendly course description section, including lists, bullet points, headers, text, images and more
  • the option to add a carousel of images and video to really showcase each course or service

For each course, service or product, Swiftlier then dynamically combines the branding information with the data it already knows about locations, dates, times and instructors, drawn from the operational timetable. The result — a great looking website sales page, generated automatically, and providing your potential customers with everything they need to know, down to the finest detail.

This truly enables Swiftlier customers to have the best of both worlds — beautiful-looking product pages designed to look just like your core website, and easy-to-maintain content. Instructor for a course changed? Update the timetable in HQ and the website Product Page changes automatically. No additional login, no separate update, and nothing lost between the cracks. Want to add a new photo for a course? Add it to the Swiftlier branding, and it appears on the Product Page and in the Shop straightaway.

Each page also has its own unique weblink, meaning you can insert links to product pages into email campaigns, individual booking communications, and more — making the pathway to enrolment even smoother.

Update 2: Goods and Merchandise sales through Swiftlier

We are pleased to announce that Swiftlier now supports the sale of Goods — both physical and digital.

Education organisations looking to sell merchandise can now manage a catalogue of Goods in addition to courses, adding their own variation attributes (size, colour, etc), choosing the fulfilment methods they want to offer, and determining how they want to track stock levels.

Customers can purchase goods via the Swiftlier Shop with full details available on the Product Pages dynamically generated using all the product and variant information managed in Swiftlier HQ.

Bringing goods and merchandise sales into Swiftlier is the next realisation of our philosophy that education businesses can save huge amounts of time, effort and money by having everything in a single, inter-connected platform.

For example, a single customer account showing all purchases — courses and merchandise — in one place is much easier for an accounts team to keep track of than having to download multiple sales files from separate platforms.

In addition to saving time, we also expect to save education businesses significant sums on subscriptions and commissions from external online store platforms. For example, an organisation running a separate Shopify platform can save at least £588 per year on monthly subscriptions*, with further savings possible on card processing fees depending on the payment methods used.

Indeed, those who’ve previously been put off from running merchandise stores can now start one, with no additional systems overhead — potentially unlocking a valuable additional revenue stream.

* Cost saving calculation assumes an existing Swiftlier subscription vs Shopify’s “Grow” plan.
